Residential Manager
New Moms, Inc is a Christian Ministry serving homeless, near homeless and at-risk teenage mother(13-21) and their children since 1983. Located in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, our mission is to enable, empower and equip at-risk adolescent parents and their children through services and mentoring that model our Christian values. We are currently searching for a dynamic individual to join our team in the position of Residential Case Manager.
This position will be responsible for providing comprehensive individual case management services and shelter housing services to homeless teenage mothers 18-21 years old and their children. The Case Manager is responsible for intake, screening and assessment; development of a comprehensive individualized service plan, including a psychosocial evaluation. Provides weekly case management to participants. Initiates referrals and assists participants in accessing service. Advocates on behalf of the participant family; Participates in weekly staffing's and collaborates with other ministry staff to facilitate appropriate services.
In addition, the Case Manager develops and maintains a working relationship with other social service or public agencies and is responsible for accurate and timely record keeping and reporting, including progress notes, referral documentation, release of information, HMIS, etc.
Qualifications: Knowledge of community service organizations and social interventions at a level normally obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in social work or related discipline. One to three years case management and crisis intervention experience working with at-risk populations, preferably with early childhood through adolescent ages to obtain practical and professional-level knowledge of adolescent parenting, child/family development and urban issues. Cross cultural experience necessary to effectively incorporate resources to participant needs. Developing knowledge of Illinois and Chicago Public Aid System. Excellent verbal communication skills to instruct and mentor participants, coordinate the work of others, and communicate with other internal and external customers.

Residential Aid

Located in the Humboldt Park/Austin neighborhood, our mission is to enable, empower and equip at-risk adolescent parents and their children through services and mentoring that model our Christian values. We are currently searching for a dynamic individual to join our team in the position of Residential Program Aid. This position is responsible for the accountability of insuring the mom’s educational, employment and treatment as followed. Responsible for timely and accurate communication within program (i.e., incident reports, supervision and all log entries. Build a relationship with the moms by being a teacher and a coach. Use sound judgment and a high level of interpersonal skills in a socially and psychologically pressured environment. Model daily living and relationship skills, and comply with agency philosophy, rules and regulations. Provide leadership for the moms in the provision of a healthy living environment. Provide consistent and supportive supervision of mom’s living space. Enforce program philosophy, rules and regulations by conducting periodic after hours and curfew checks and notifying supervisor of any rule infractions. Ensure participant and family safety by providing crisis intervention and conflict management as needed, notifying staff as appropriate. Assist with food pick-up, keys, meals housekeeping, and participants moving in and out of their dwelling. Plan and facilitate 2-3 weekly family events for shelter participants and their children, modeling and teaching family life skills. Be able to stand, sit, and lift/move things up to 30-40 pounds. Participate in program and staff meetings. Be able to solve practical problems using by using sound judgment. Be able to read, write, and interpret manuals, handbooks and log books. Maintain the Mom’s Bulletin Implements Board as needed. Follow all agency emergency policies and procedures.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Bachelor’s degree preferred, if non-degreed, must have 2 years experience in related field. Must be 21 years of age. Have a valid Illinois Drivers License. Have working knowledge of inner city and teen issues. Experience in residential setting or shelter a plus.
OTHER CONSIDERATION: This is a part-time position, hours are Monday - Friday
2:00pm-10:00pm. Work schedule can be unpredictable and requires some travel to residential centers. This position requires sound professional judgment and analytical ability, as well as the desire to work in a socially and psychologically pressured environment. This position is located in the Austin neighborhood.
